CANON! Here's what another photographer friend and I have decided (and he has a Nikon) - Canon is just like Nikon, only cheaper!

I have a Nikon D90 that I bought just a couple of months ago. I love, love, love it! It's really easy to use, the manual is easy to understand and it has a video feature that comes in very handy. I also have a D40x that I've had for 2 years and that was great. I also thought about maybe getting a Canon but since I've been so happy with the Nikons I found no reason to switch.

I was lucky enough to right for Beyond Megapixels for about a year before I went from my Nikon D40 to my next big camera - during that time I was able to try out the Canons and the Nikons on my wish list. At the end of the day I decided to go with the Nikon D700. I went with it for the following reasons:
There are more automatic focus points...because I don't shoot manual when shooting kids - they don't cooperate. And having more chances of getting a great shot is important to me. And the other factor was the ISO sensitivity. Nikon came out on top for me but really you can not make a bad decision.

I would say if the lenses you've purchased would work on one and not the other go with the camera that will allow you to leverage your previous lens investment.

I'm biased, I have had 4 Canons and loved them all. I've never had a Nikon so I don't know yay or nay, really. But I can tell you that I have a Canon Rebel XSi and it is my lover. True story!
